Rating metrics: Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album is rated in the top 11% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 74.8/100, a mean average of 74.0/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 74.9/100. The standard deviation for this album is 13.8.

I got tired of the lead singer's falsetto real, REAL quickly. The music was catchy I suppose.

Soundtrack to the summer of 2009. If I was stuck on a desert island and had only albums released in the last 10 years to listen to Manners would be one of a dozen I'd bring.

I don't get how Passion Pit didn't really catch on when generic indie acts like Arcade Fire and Mumford and Sons were heightened to legendary status almost immediately following their debuts. Manners contains hit after hit after hit, which is especially impressive when you consider the fact that most of these songs were recorded in a college dorm room.

I loved this album in middle school. Now I'm about to graduate High School. I can sort of dig it.

Another influential album preceding my twenties. A good way to embody a "pop" sound, yet separate itself with unique synth melodies and a wicked fallseto from the lead.

This album caught me by surprise. I liked it immediatly when I heard it, but after a second listen it lost a bit of it's appeal, but still I like it, just not as much as the first time I heard it.

It's a poor man's Oracular Spectacular, which isn't as much of an insult as it sounds but the parallels are out there. Sleepyhead and The Reeling are catchy little pop tunes that will probably remind you of MGMT's Time to Pretend and Kids. Hopefully they'll get to stretch their legs a little more in the next album because the lack of variety gets grating after a few songs. No matter what it's still miles ahead of that Foster the People album from last year.
