A wonderful album, the sort that makes you more human, less animal with each listen. The best counterargument to racism and bigotry i know. I hear it as a tone poem about life in a western South African town; I hear the women chaffering in the marketplace, the children and the dogs, smell the food in the pots and the grasses at the edge of the clearing, and after 20 minutes or so I want to go there and live there, and seek my evolution among all these wonderful people.
That's about me, yes-- but that is also what Abdullah Ibrahim can do with a piano and 20-30 minutes.
