Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album has a Bayesian average rating of 73.4/100, a mean average of 74.5/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 74.5/100. The standard deviation for this album is 8.2.

For those of you who are unfamiliar, Elizabeth "Connie" Converse was a New York City-based folk singer-songwriter active during the 1950s and 60s. She didn't play live, but several of her songs were nevertheless recorded by an acquaintance, Gene Deitch, who was eventually invited to play some of them on WNYC Radio in 2004. Two listeners, Dan Dzula and David Herman, were impressed and began the process of collecting and compiling all the extant Converse recordings they could find into this album. All tracks consist of just Converse singing and accompanying herself on acoustic guitar (nylon-stringed) with no overdubs. Many are just conventional folk songs, including a few that may have been written for children, but there are also flashes of brilliance and incisiveness to be heard if you're paying attention. Anyway... in 1961 Converse moved to Ann Arbor, Michigan, and in 1974, she disappeared from there after writing a "goodbye and don't look for me" letter, and apparently went "off the grid," never to be seen or heard from again. Her fate remains a complete mystery, but my own theory is that she got tired of hearing Iggy and the Stooges (also from Ann Arbor) practicing down the street at all hours of the night and moved to nearby Kalamazoo, since it has a funnier name.
