A very fine debut. There are obviously some underdeveloped songs, but there are also some stellar highlights, including uniquely dark lyrics and melodic throughlines. Tracks 1, 5, 8-10 are my favorites. 9/10! (Edited)

Well, maybe it was 1977 that hair metal arose. I always attributed the poofy hair, slick look and guitar wankery to 78's van halen debut, but there are many hair metal facets to early cheap trick. On their debut, "elo kiddies" is the main attraction, but it's all rockin' good time. (Edited)

This album needs to be in the top 500 for sure, for me top 200. For the power album that it is...top 100 for sure.

Exceptionally melodic and subversive songs that are downright catchy with insanely dark lyrics. Every songs is a keeper.

Cheap Trick had hunger, power and songs...their first 3 albums are hard to beat. "He's A Whore", "Hot Love", "Daddy Should Have Stayed In High School"...a very good debut album.
After a great start this album quickly becomes disappointing. I much prefered All Shock Up to this one. Best Song ELO Kiddies.
