Rating metrics: Help Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album has a Bayesian average rating of 68.2/100, a mean average of 67.3/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 68.1/100. The standard deviation for this album is 17.7.

“These are the albums of 2016 I listened to: First an album I already own/know: One of the albums of the in my opinion best period of band also featuring a few good singles like Dark Necessities. A very decent album which moves up from the 42nd to the 38th rank. And not one but two albums connected…”

I absolutely love this album

It's early days yet but at the moment this is my favourite album by the rhcp

Time will tell whether it's a laster but this has not been off my iPod since it was released about a month ago

It has the same laid back feel like "by the way" - which up to about a week ago had been my favourite rhcp album since its release back in my long distant youth

I did not like some of the production instantly , it didn't feel in my face enough for a rhcp album - but after a few listens I was hooked and couldn't remember what I'd disliked about it ??

Great tunes - great album

Up there in their top five best albums. Keidis and everyone else sound like they are excited about being in a great rock band, and this takes them in some interesting new directions. And yes, this is Josh Klinghoffer's breakthrough. I stop comparing him to JF -- Josh might be an equal in some respects and stands on his own in others. Very good Peppers collaboration.

Much improvement on their last album. There are many highs and lows I feel on this album. The highs including The Longest Waves, Sick Love and The Getaway being the highs, and Detroit, Hunter and Death of a Samurai being the lows. The key difference between this and I'm With You is Josh. Josh is on this album playing with absolute confidence in what he is doing, his guitar is now at the front of the mix and he is starting to give a more Frusciante/Hendrix type sound, which is a vast improvement on his reductionist approach of the previous album. Overall a very good album and I feel that there is still life in the Red Hot Chili Peppers.

A much more varied sound than on previous albums, the sound is also much less in your face. The switch of producers from Rubin to Burton seems to inspired a new creativity and openness to explore new territory. This leads to a pretty inconsistent album in terms of style and quality. There's some good content here, but most of it only sounds tnagentially like the Peppers. The band does seem to work better together even when the songs don't work as well themselves, which suggests that this lineup does have a future. I don't think this is a very good album, but I do think the band is more of a unit than on the last album, even if the sound is all over the place.

This album give me mixed feelings!
Red Hot put completely aside the rock but what does that matter when we are in the presence of one of the best albums of this historic band?
Great POP album!
