....are you kidding me? i'm the first person to comment on "chutes too narrow" by the shins? gawd. expand your margins , people. pick it up. spin it. get the tunes bouncing around in that ol' noggin of yours. spin it again. get on the train. breezy chock-full-o-wonder brilliance. spread the word. the shins. a great post-modern band.

This band still holds a special place in my heart, but my last comment was ridiculously hyperbolic. A great band, but definitely not the best ever, not by a long shot. I guess it goes to show how I've become more discerning of what's good and bad in the last couple of years. But my rating still stands due to my own personal connection to this band.
Though their output has decreased in quality as their noterity has done the opposite, many of us remember a time when only people that actively searched for their music had even heard of The Shins. Their first three albums stand as a testament to the artistic power that enthused early 2000's indie rock. You will be hard pressed to find a more complete album than Chutes Too Narrow.
Another newish band building a fine back catalogue. Really like chutes too narrow and wincing the night away. The danger mouse (broken bells) collaboration is pretty good as well.

James Mercer is an amazing songwriter, singer and musician. What a stupidly banal thing to say about just another genius who gives so much. Every album is an event.
