Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some artists can have several thousand ratings)
This artist is rated in the top 4% of all artists on BestEverAlbums.com. This artist has a Bayesian average rating of 79.2/100, a mean average of 78.2/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 79.7/100. The standard deviation for this artist is 18.4.

"You don't know what it's like, you don't have a clue
If you did you'd find yourselves doing the same thing too".

Second only to Black Sabbath in the heavy genre, one of my favourite bands, (and one of the few I've seen live), never produced a less than great album, even Rocka Rolla is a favourite, (takes several listens).
One of my favorite bands of all time. Classic metal.
Strange how Genocide from unleashed in the east was voted their best track by their fans, but it doesn't rate in their top tracks here. Weird.

These have to be the most unfair ratings I ever saw! Don’t get why there are so many metal haters on this website. Iconic bands like Death, Opeth, Slayer and Iron Maiden don’t have any albums rated above 80, though I’m glad to see that the average rating of Judas Priest has increased by 2 points following the release of Firepower.
How is this band so underrated? I mean I haven't listened to all of their albums or anything but their best stuff is top-tier metal.

Judas Priest followed in the large footsteps of Black Sabbath and forged their own path. They are at the top of their genre of heavy metal. A lot of pretenders tried to come after but these guys were the best. The majestic vocals and musicianship was unique. I don't believe they get the credit they deserve but understand it is not everyone's cup of tea. I have listened to Rocka Rolla, Sad Wings of Destiny, Sin after Sin, Killing Machine, Unleashed in the East, Stained Class, British Steel Screaming for Vengeance and Priest Live and I recommend them all.

Say what you will about some of their discography, and they aren't better than Iron Maiden, but metal would look very different had Priest never came along. A lot of classics they still kill live today. Influential and very heavy.

When I was growing up, my mom would probably not allow you in the house if you didn't like Judas Priest. I will certainly follow that rule as well. One of the very best heavy metal bands. The 70's material is very tough to match and even though it came out in 1980, British Steel is certainly a gold standard.
