Rating metrics: Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album is rated in the top 2% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a mean average rating of 78.0/100. The trimmed mean (excluding outliers) is 79.1/100. The standard deviation for this album is 18.1.

I might choose this number one for 1990 Halford is back at full form and song writing and guitar riffs and solos are the best since Screaming for vengeance this is in my top 5 for Judas Priest albums

What it lacks in variety, Painkiller just makes up for in solidity. All of the tracks thrash even if they are similar.

Heavy metal wasn't strong in the 90's.
But then comes this

What a comeback this is after two mediocre releases. One of their best albums.

A great consistent listen from start to finish. Truly a great example of the whole being greater than the sum of its parts.

Avoid the remaster btw, sounds awful relative to the initial release.

Easily the best Judas Priest album, but also one of the finest metal albums that exists on the face of the earth. Several great songs and perfect consistently throughout the tracks.

That was absolutely fantastic! Best Judas Priest album I have heard so far. The best of Cd won't do any more, I'm going to have to get more studio albums. Almost everything on here is a highlight!
