I don't get why everyone thinks they got so much worse? No, sure, non of the other albums are on Is This It's level, but seriously, they are still fantastic albums. Angles is so so underrated, and Comedown Machine has some great tunes too.
First time I listened to this band's first album I was so mad at myself for not discovering how awesome they were sooner. Start to finish their first two albums do not have a bad song on them.
I have to say I was pretty disappointed at their third and fourth albums, but maybe I haven't given them enough of a chance. They each got a few hits, but nothing like their first two.
One of my favorite bands. Have they changed their sound? Yes. Is it Is This It? No. But if they kept the exact same sound as their debut, don't you think critics would hammer them harder with criticism? Their last few albums, save a few songs, have been very interesting and they have acted more as a band now more than 6 years ago. I'm excited to see where they go from here.

They played a major role in defining indie rock in the 2000's. Angles is incredibly underrated.
