Rating metrics: Help Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album has a Bayesian average rating of 72.1/100, a mean average of 71.0/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 72.1/100. The standard deviation for this album is 15.6.

Probably their worst album, but still has many high points. I like Macchu Picchu, Under Cover Of Darkness, Taken For A Fool and Two Kinds Of Happiness. But there are a few duds - eg. Games, You're So Right and Call Me Back.

A solid album but there is too much average content on here for it to be able to really compete with their greater records. We do get fantastic songs such a Machu Picchu, Under Cover Of Darkness, Two Kinds Of Happiness and Taken For A Fool. All these songs are so infectious and possess that raw, energetic feel of the Strokes that has been a staple of all their works right back to their debut. The vocal is still brilliant and the guitar work really drives home the passion of the performers. However, when you get to this record when you go through their discography you can feel the fatigue of this style of music and this album is the one that feels the most bland and unimaginative. Overall, there is some great tracks to pick out on here and if you really love the Strokes you should have no issue with this record but if you don't you will probably want some more variation than we get on this record.

It's a solid enough album but just lacks that something to lift it from good to greatness. Games is my favourite track and only track I would give 4/5 - whilst nothing is bad it's really just full out of 3/5 tracks

I actually think this one is a bit underscored here.

Sporadic greatness, but disappointing incosistency.

Their least solid project to date. I still find it to be good overall, mainly because it includes four of their best tracks. It's ok I guess, but I would still place it at the bottom of their discography, which is exceptionally good, so that's not necessarily something bad to say.

Although this album has some great tracks, it is overall a bit underwhelming, great ideas, but the result not so.

So they're trying something else now, which is fine, at some moment you have saturated your style and even a real rock-/punker has to switch it up. But what they did was basically not change their style at all and then add the minimal amount gimmicks to make it sound prog: boring intermezzos and synth sounds your dad thinks are "cool". Strokes, don't become like those other '00s poser- I mean indie bands, please.
