Kashmir is a rather peaceful band, but "No Balance Palace" differs a little from this rule by having a more claustrophobic atmosphere. Still heavily influenced by Radiohead, the tracks "Diana Ross" and "Black Building" are their answers to "Treefingers" and "Fitter Happier" respectively (the latter with Lou Reed performing the spoken words instead of a computer voice), though I'm not quite sure it's a great idea to copy the weakest track on two albums, disregarding the fact that they're masterpieces. Wooh! Did I just mention a celebrity? There's one more: David Bowie is appearing on "The Cynic"!! Promotion done.

The album cover is kinda awful, but the music is the exact opposite. "And the Glass Handed Kites" can easily be labelled millions of different genres, but to name a few: alternative rock, dream pop, shoegazing, new prog. It's the kind of album that you need to hear from start to finish, but also spawned some of the three most popular danish singles of all time: "Apocalypso", "Special" & "The Zookeeper's Boy". It's dark and intimidating, and still very dreamy. Especially the last half of the album is proggy, but serves as a grand finale.

"Love Kraft" literally jumps off with the sound of guitarist Huw Bunford jumping into a swimming pool and then continues in traditional awesome Super Furry Animals-style, if a bit mellower than usual, but still with loads of energy, catchiness and fun. "Atomik Lust" is a little reminiscent of "Surfs Up"-era Beach Boys and other influences are notable too, but Super Furry Animals are still as much their own animals as they're super and furry.

Coldplay drifting into outer space. Swallowed in a sea of synths and cosmic guitars, it could be the sequel to a Pink Floyd album. Compared to "A Rush of Blood to the Head", the songwriting is a bit of a low, but overall Coldplay suceeded to deliver high quality if not quite as heartbreakingly moving.

Takk Sigur Rós for creating some of the most beautiful music imaginable. Sigur Rós tried less harder than on "the bracket album" and delivered something more minimalistic and pure, but ultimately more successful and uplifting with a triumphant feel throughout. An angelic album sent from above!

Home, leaving home, and everything in between. You feel like on a journey but you're never too far from home. However, it's a completely different year, possibly in space!

In your honour, Foo Fighters give you a full double album with one disc of typical ass-kicking Foo Fighters hard rockers and one disc of mellow acoustic songs. Two sides of a talented band are on display here and not a single moment below solid. The best of Foo Fighters? Not far from!

Come on! Feel the Illinoise! Some serious songwriting on display here. Lots of bittersweet melodies and beautiful orchestration behind some ridiculously long song titles. It's superambitious and Sufjan Stevens pulls it off. Bravo!

Strange buzzy feels to get from this summery, kinda scary, but ultimately comforting album. Yet another unique Animal Collective album!

Not the very best from Elbow, but not far from either. You should still have great expectations going into this smooth alternative rock album. The thing about the album cover being highly reminiscent of Genesis' "A Trick of the Tail" is also very true, I think!
