Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album has a Bayesian average rating of 71.1/100, a mean average of 70.1/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 71.1/100. The standard deviation for this album is 16.4.

Surprised me greatly. Not a big Foo's fan so wasn't expecting great things. Specially with this being a double CD. It was all the tracks I didn't know that made the album. The 1st CD kicked arse. Even the 2nd disc being a lot mellower was pleasantly enjoyable. It's made me reassess my feelings towards the Foo's.
First 10 songs is classic Foo Fighters. There are a couple of duds (In your Honor, Hell, The Deepest Blues) but also some great rock songs (Best of You, No Way Back, DOA). Second 10 songs is a completely different side of the band. Initially I didn't like this but it has grown on me on the second listen. There's enough variety in there to keep me interested, and some genuinely great ballads (Miracle, Razor and Over/Out my favourites). Overall, a decent album but a bit too long. Probably should have just been two separate albums?
This album is just ok, and it is way too long for what it is. However, it did lea the way to one of the greatest live recordings of all time, Skin and Bones.
For me the first 'rock' half is good, but also just another Foo Fighters album. It is nice, but will not have any significant role in rock-and-roll hisotry. The 'acoustic' half is more interesting and can be nice to listen to every once in a while.
Solid album. Second disc took multiple listens to get into.
I get and don't disagree with the comments that they should have mixed the acoustic tracks with the more rock songs, but for me the best thing about this album is how different the two discs are. You get the melt your face off rock from In Your Honor, Best of You, and the others on disc one and then come to disc two where you're greeted by the softer side of Dave and co. with incredible tracks like On the Mend and Razor. One of their best for this reason in my opinion.
This ambitious double disc is very underrated in the Foo catalogue.
Tons of credit for taking a chance here after the average One by One
Best of You is top 5 Foo. DOA, End Over End, Resolve, No Way Back are fantastic
Do you want chill out a little bit? Hit the second disc with Razor, Still, Miracle, and others that set the tone and mood.
In Your Honor lands in 2nd tier Foo for me with Nothing Left to Lose. Its very very good.
Surprised this isn't higher up on FF's own albums. I kinda feel like what Flea said about Stadium Arcadium, if you don't like this album, you don't get the FF. I feel like this goes to all the FF territories... but then again since this album FF have developed a slightly "newer" sound.
This is just a really solid album from beginning to end. I like almost every song on the album, though there are a few I don't mind skipping. Aside from that The Deepest Blues are Black, End Over End, No Way Back, Razor, and Over and Out are all tremendous Foo Fighter songs. The song Still is, to me, one of the most chilling and moving songs I've ever heard. Also, the concept of having an electric, heavy side, and a much more mellow acoustic side is very enjoyable. Great balance, great songs, and in my opinion, their strongest release (at the time) since TCATS.
I agree they should have mixed the acoustic songs with the rock ones - the second disc is very good but the songs aren't daring enough to keep me interested. The rock side also feels a little shouty; Dave is straining his voice so much the riffs kind of get lost underneath it. Despite all this though it's still an enjoyable listen and one of the better mid-2000s rock albums.
