Unlike the majority of critics, I don't think Oasis were a spent force after their first two albums. They leave behind an excellent, often inspired, if admittedly traditionalist, body of work. That said, their debut was definitely special. No maybe about it.

A collection of radio recordings made between 1963 and '65. As eclectic as the White Album, and ample proof that, on top of it all, this band could play and sing in ANY style.

A couple of pedestrian tracks notwithstanding (the overlong CD syndrome), most of it is truely beautiful: an American treasure indeed, tastefully produced by Rick Rubin.
