I've spent the past 30 years of my life owning and operating a mobile DJ service. I've compiled a list of what I have found to be the essentials to have on hand at a wedding reception. These albums have mass appeal and are in no way for the home headphone audiophile and record connoisseur. To DJ at a wedding reception, you must always remember that you're there to cater to a diverse audience. So, throw away your statements about a song being "overplayed" or "overrated." You're being paid to please a crowd and to keep them entertained. I'm posting this list in the hope that it will prove to be a valuable resource to others.

Without a doubt, the song that is requested for me to play the most at wedding receptions is "You Shook Me All Night Long." Don't leave home without it.

"Billie Jean," "Beat It," and "Thriller" are all way up there on the most-requested list. It's also become very popular for the wedding party to re-enact the dance from the music video. Type it into YouTube. Go ahead...I'll wait.

"The Twist" is the dance that everyone can do. As Marion Cunningham once demonstrated in an episode of "Happy Days," all you have to do is act like you're drying your back with a towel.

"We've Only Just Begun" and "Close to You" A double-whammy from one album. Both can almost be considered wedding reception standards.

excelent chart, i used to work as a DJ on Mexico city and there are a lot of differences and some pleasant coincidences
