Listening Project - Mercury Music Prize 2015 by mostlymor
Been listening to this year's nominations and aiming to predict a winner! Eska is the best one i've heard... Jamie XX most likely to win the prize though. He will doubtless be held aloft upon the shoulders of the Hoxton Massive and Banksy will probably paint a street mural in his honour! Happy days in Merry Olde England!

My personal favourite here, the one revelation. Again, fairly straightforward songs taken into interesting stylistic territories by great performances and sympathetic contemporary production. The sort of thing the Mercury Music Prize has always done well. I hope it wins! But considering I've never correctly predicted the winner in 25 years, it probably won't...

Very nice songs with interesting execution and impeccable production values. Getting signfiicant 'buzz' here in the UK at the moment, and the support of 6Music on the radio. Could be a winner...

Muscular British rock album!! After Royal Blood last year and now this Brit Rock is now in the ascendancy again.

Glad the panel chose this, as it meant I listened to it, I wouldn't have given it a fair and objective play otherwise. I couldn't really care less about this soulless clinical borish Warp Records stuff on the whole, but this was really good. The first and last tracks are very highly rated here and deserve to be. Gorgeous!

Libertinesesque (!) snot nosed and grubby English parka hooded punk. Plenty of attitude. I'm sure the kids just love it. Olly, Bella, Saskia, Rupert and all the other young revolutionaries.

Another straightforward set of songs, again all the production values and performances bring it to life. He's probably too famous to win though.

Wow! After so long being ignored since Moloko split up she must be thrilled to get a Mercury nomination.

Sweet songs from an acoustic songstress, and it reminded me a bit of early SInead O'Connor!
