After hearing "Hold On Tight" on Casey Kasem's American Top 40 Mighty 690 AM Radio Show back in Summer 1981 while with family around Ventura, California, a U.S. Route 101 road trip to Santa Barbara's Mission when I was just 8 years old, Dad then bought me my very first Electric Light Orchestra album from Tower Records, an audio cassette of Time by ELO, thus started the fandom 38 years ago! 8-) [First added to this chart: 05/02/2011]

Rating metrics: Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some charts can have several thousand ratings)

This chart has a Bayesian average rating of 71.8/100, a mean average of 66.2/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 66.2/100. The standard deviation for this chart is 28.0.

After looking at your chart, I see why your handle name is what it is. Hilarious. It's so logical Spock.

Holy crap man, you really like ELO! So does my dad, haha! He talks about them all the time. I'm glad to see you also like Genesis a lot. That's my favorite band but my dad hates them for some reason. I love their albums with Phil Collins on vocals you have included, but if you're gonna do multiple albums you gotta at least put a couple of their 70's albums on here. I mean come on, you included "Turn it on Again", their compilation album, but no "The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway", no "Foxtrot", not even "A Trick of the Tail" or "Wind and Wuthering" in spite of the fact that you're obviously a huge Collins fan? I implore you to add some of their earlier stuff; you've still got room on your chart!

ELO is great but there's so much good music out there! I agree you should expand your musical knowledge. I grew up on 80s Genesis but eventually got into their 70s progressive rock stuff which I find better then their pop rock stuff. You should check out Yes, their 70s stuff like The Yes Album, Fragile, Close to the Edge, Relayer etc.. They are one of my favorite bands. Tales from Topographic Oceans is my favorite Yes album , it's a double album with four twenty minute songs haha, it's brilliant. Love your addition of Star Trek soundtracks haha, the James Horner ones are excellent. You should really expand your music, so much great stuff out there! Also expand beyond greatest hits, Stevie Wonder has like five great 70s albums that are better than just the hits. If you like ELO I'd also check out Supertramp, I actually like them more, Crime of the Century is one of my very favorite albums. Good luck in your musical journey.

I can believe, that someone does like ELO a lot. So do I. But Phil Collins? Really? So, Leo Sayer gets a rating of 100 from you, but he is not good enough to get one record into your 84 greatest Albums of all time. You are not taking this very seriously, do you? Which, of course, is probably the right attitude.
-- Just saw that 320 artists get a 100 rating and 3 a 5. Nothing in between. I envy you.

Its awesome that you put all your favorite artists all in a row. How honest can u get. However, the order of your Top 10 ELO's is the REVERSE of what mine would be. Id start with El Dorado and go to Face the Music to New World to Out of the Blue etc. Thats just how i would do it tho.

I would rate this low, but i assume that you'll just aimlessly rate me lower too. But seriously. Why is your entire top ten the same band?

I know you like ELO, but a top 10 with only albums from one artist is a very narrow-minded list
