Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).

I didn't know I wasn't allowed to put Deerhunter in my top 10. I have them there because it's one of the 10 most important albums in my life, and one I've enjoyed more than all but those above it, which I thought was the point? I'm sorry you have a problem with the albums I find most poignant, I'm not aiming to please you or anyone else, just posting an honest list. Personal flavor adds to the site in my opinion.

You rated someone with a chart full of very popular classics as being boring because it's the same as everyone else. So I came here to get shed load of recs of stuff I've never heard and I get....a chart full (95%) of very well known albums that are on loads of other charts, not to mention Keane,Coldplay,Travis,killers, not that I hate them but they are hardly the epitome of exotic taste.

Terrible top ten, IMO.
And I rated the chart by how it is. :)
Go find something better to do than critique how I rate my music and charts, your life can't be that pathetic and you can't be that judgmental as a person. (Oh, and clearly I MUST be a teenager if I have a focus on 90s-2010s on my favorite albums chart. Most wonderful logic I've seen on this website. I'm going to go back to studying medicinal chemistry because that's what teenagers do.)

Puscifer? Lorde? Clearly you're far too young to be able to judge music. Kid, go back to your fantasy world where Vampire Weekend's at number 12 and leave the chart-making to the adults with taste.
