I arrived back in Scotland after living in Iran for a year and a half because my dad was working with the Iranian army. He later had to make a fairly rapid exit when the Shah was overturned by Khomeini. I spent most of my time across there with very few chances to listen to music.

Listening to John Peel in the late evenings, introduced this great man to me. A legend. He even appears in the Magical Mystery Tour as the bus conductor Buster Bloodvessel.

Roadrunner is such a great track. I can remember being dragged to see him in Dundee and being blown away because he was so good.

Pissing in the River just has to be listened to. She is a great songwriter. This is probably better than Horses, but misses out on my big chart because Horses means more to me.

John Peel is responsible for any reggae albums in my collection. Every show had at least one or two reggae track. At first I used to be annoyed by them, but so many of them seeped into my consciousness and remained there as favourites.
