Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).

This is pretty good! Lots of Rush which I couldn't agree more with, nice prog choices and also Dead Can Dance, some Britpop stuff and a bit of metal. Funfun

Don't know much about THE CARDIACS but a very good chart, have tried to like Genesis enjoy their music more now I'm a bit older

Lovin Stupid Dream so high up ^^. Finally someone agrees with me that it's the band's best work.
Have you listened to Clouds Taste Metallic, by The Flaming Lips? I warn you, it's completely different from Yoshimi and Soft Bulletin, but if you liked the guitar-oriented side of Mystics, you're not going to believe how much better Clouds is.
This might be my favourite chart on the site. I've been meaning to properly get into Cardiacs for quite some time, but just haven't gotten round to it yet.
