"It's a shame because there is easily a 50 minute 9/10 album in here. The first 4 tracks, track 6, and tracks 10-15 are utterly incredible, and on par with NFR. The interludes and the piano ballads in the middle of the album grind the momentum to a halt, and while the "Taco Truck" part of the last...""It's a shame because there is easily a 50 minute 9/10 album in here. The obvious standout is "Turbines/Pigs" which is a gorgeous piano ballad, but "The Boy" and "Dancers" are fantastic as well. I was very worried about how BC/NR would move into their next full length album but this has very much put my mind at ease. Cannot wait for future releases from them. " [More]

Mainly Roan's current strength is that unlike a lot of her much more polished peers she has a willigness to get geniunely kooky and vulgar, and isn't really afraid of embarrassing herself in the slightest, but the ultra polished production keeps the snakes in a low blast-radius from the can. While isolated from each other the numbers can be quite catchy and appealing, but stringed together they kind of just morph into this brittle glass-elephant transparency that gets rather tiring. I mean I just feel this should sound less 1989 or prime Katy Perry, and more like we're being Welcome to the Pleasuredome. So donno, the album is decently promising, but I'll check back when the producers are willing to let her get a little more out of control." [More]
