I'm not sure what all the fuss is about Belle and Sebastian.
I think this album, the only one I've forked out money for, is OK but not to the level of brilliance and exuberance displayed by the many comments and high ratings. I am not going to publish rhetoric which demeans the album other than to say its not by cup of tea. IMO - average at best.

Very Good Stuff..especially If You're Feeling Sinister
If You're Feeling Sinister is a truly great album. Most of their other great albums I really like as well and understand the acclaim even if I wouldn't rank them as some of my favorites.

I wonder if Stuart Murdoch realises how great song-writer actually he is. And I can't understand why most of the people don't notice how great he is.
When they go wrong, it's wildly disappointing. When they go right, which is often, it's really REALLY right. Few bands right consistently catchy, consistently smart, and consistently interesting songs and records for nearly twenty years.

If You're Feeling Sinister is my favourite album of all time. Tigermilk is in my top ten. The other tracks I listened to are also really nice. They created some of the best pieces of music I have ever heard.
The only thing that makes me proud to be scottish, are Belle & Sebastian. 'If You're Feeling Sinister' is without a doubt one of the best albums of the 90's, and yet I still feel this band are underrated. The result of this is that their other albums are completely overshadowed by this one record. Both 'Dear Catastrophe Waitress' and 'The Life Pursuit' are near-perfect records, and I strongly recommend them for those who want to hear some progression from their early sound.
I can totally see why we compare this band and the Smiths, but only thematically. their music is really something else. an excellent band (just like the Smiths). 'If you're feeling sinister' is one of those albums you'll never forget if you listen to it closely. Much to love about them.
Much more interesting than the Smiths.
