"I agree, it sounds like his well known two acoustic folk albums, though it isn't as brilliant as they were. Best tracks for me are The Painter and Here for You while otheres like the last two I don't like and many are just fine. Still, it's a nice album to listen."  Reply

"I am still stunned that this album didn't change the landscape of popular rock in the mid eighties. It was so much more catchy and lycically important than REM; less self righteous than U2; and just plain better than what other trash was being heaped onto non-college airways."  Reply

"I think Dream Theater dropped the ball a little bit here. On first listen, I found the album to be satisfactory, but repeated listens just drag it down. It's too cheesy and overblown for my tastes, especially since Octavarium promised a more atmospheric and mature direction. Songs like The Dark E..."  [+]  Reply

"I enjoy 70s rock because there was no limitations. Crazy elaborate album covers, colored vinyl, complicated time signatures, songs an entire album side, etc. Nothing was too crazy, possibly drug induced decision making, but you can’t deny the wealth of classic albums created during this decade. "This has always been one of my favorite ska albums and its top two songs received significant airplay on MTV (I confess / save it for later). Surprised this album isn't ranked higher"  Reply

"I cannot believe I am the first to add this album. I hope that I have introduced this great album to people that otherwise wouldn't have heard it. It doesn't have all original material, but what it has is amazing: Would by Alice in Chains, Drown by the Smashing Pumpkins, State of Love and Trust B..."  [+]  Reply

"Seems like it would be a dream combination - and the truth is - It IS a dream combination! Morrison has never sounded more comfortable and the band has never sounded more capable. A Masterpiece of Celtic traditional music."  Reply

"My boyfriend suggested that I download this, after he got me into bands like Led Zeppelin, The Stones, and Van Halen this year. The songs themselves are mostly good -- "Pride and Joy;" "Shake My Tree;" and "Absolution Blues" in particular. None of these songs are total stinkers, per se. The probl..."  [+]  Reply
