Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album has a Bayesian average rating of 70.5/100, a mean average of 69.4/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 70.4/100. The standard deviation for this album is 16.0.

Awful.....
Dec17. Hmmm, another good/very good LP, but not great. When I 1st heard, like all Foo Fighter LPs, I really liked, but like most of their albums, on repeated listens that became just liked. The pop and polished production is too pervasive for mine. 'Wasting Light' it is not. I wanted another LP to not be the normal 7/10, but it is.
Still, as usual, some belter songs to sing along to.
Jul19. Although the latest FF album, this one sounds like it has aged more than the others. Often happens with immediately accessible songs. It is not that they are bad songs, it's just that, apart from 'Run' they are pop songs and produced that way. Tempted to lower score to 3/5 but won't for now. 3.5/5.
Total drek... Hopefully they have taken more stock in the poor reviews than those that say what they think DG would like to hear. A different producer should plan on bringing their aspirations back down to earth with their next effort.
The album is highly inconsistent and doesn't have the songs to make a good overall album. I am quite disappointed again after being disappointed in Sonic Highways, however that album was still listenable.
The first five songs aren't sufficient or remarkable. Dirty Water and Arrows are the best of the album. Happy Ever After (Zero Hour) is acceptable and the last three songs of the album are awful.
Really good, one of the better Foo Fighters albums.
Favorites: Make It Right, La Dee Da, Happy Ever After (Zero Hour), Sunday Rain.
This is a sneaky good album. No crazy hit singles like “Everlong”, “All My Life”, or “The Pretender”, but there are definitely some cool songs throughout. Pretty consistent.
A good first listen shows there are no duff tracks but subsequent listens makes you realise there aren’t any slow burners that grow on you. On balance slightly closer to concrete than gold, solid but not sparkling - decent though.

I loved Wasting Light, but didn't get into Sonic Highways or Saint Cecilia. Was pleased that they followed up those two with Concrete And Gold.
