It's surprising to see how quickly Incubus's popularity dropped. On top of the world with Morning View, A Crow Left of the Murder to follow had a mega hit in Megalomaniac and a couple minor radio singles.
By the time Light Grenades arrived only a couple year later, people weren't listening anymore. And a band once known for creativity and pushing aural sounds in their rock released a pretty safe and standard rocker on Light Grenades.
This combination makes Light Grenades disappointing but a little underrated. It is uneven but it's best songs are good.
Anna Molly is excellent. Dig is great except for some cringe worthy lyrics here and there.
Love Hurts is a stand out ballad and Oil & Water stand up with the best Incubus.
One of the Earth to Bella's sucks, can't remember which one because like everyone else, I don't really care and I lost interest in this band fast. Which surprises me as I write it now.
Half of this is really good. Combine it with the best of A Crow Left of the Murder into one bad ass album and Incubus is still probably relevant.

How could you possibly think this is better than Make Yourself (or Morning View and SCIENCE for that matter). This cd is so inconsistent, also continuing their constant evolution towards watered down commercial pop. There are definitely still some good tracks here, but for every good one there is a horrible one. Its better than their newest at least.
Easily Incubus' best, I just hope that this isnt their peak because these guys seem to be getting better. If you havent heard this album - do it! Awesome.

Good alternative rock album. Best 10 songs average is 81,2/100 and the album can get good 80/100. Best song is "Love hurts" 90/100. All other songs in the average/good region of 70-80/100, except "Light grenades" poor 65/100 only.
