Practitioners of a form of funky Smooth Jazz - Goin' Public - is a quintet that sometimes feels closer to contemporary R & B than Jazz. A lot of that meshing of sounds can be attributed to guitarist John Valentino who composes the lion's share of the tracks on this album. Also comprised of keyboardist Ken Burgomaster, saxman Rick Rossi, bassist Doc Murdock and drummer Jim Loftus the N.Y. based band brings a sophistcated feel to the urban setting of their music.
