Rating metrics: Help Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album has a Bayesian average rating of 63.0/100, a mean average of 60.0/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 60.0/100. The standard deviation for this album is 23.1.

Well after the big comeback album, Meat goes back to his mediocre ways with this one. First song starts out promising musically, but the lyrics are pretty "cringe" as the kids say these days. Tracks 2 & 8 (both by Diane Warren) are the best songs here, although they aren't that great or anything. "45 Seconds To Ecstasy" is only 1 minute but sure is weird. If you got this on cassette, hope your fast forward works. Then there are some covers of Sammy Hagar and Tom Waits that I don't think were all that good as originals, and a couple Steinman leftovers. Everything else is mediocre at best. It isn't completely terrible, but for 1995 this is weak sauce (and I'm probably being generous with my rating). (Edited)

It's like the lyrics were written by some 16 year old Meatloaf fan-boy. Even by his standards, this album is weak.
