Un Neil Young impegnato, toccato dai fatti dell'11 Settembre 2001, schierato contro il bellicismo americano, patriottico ( "America the beautiful" ), fortemente critico nei confronti di George Bush Jr. ( "Let's impeach the President" ) e che cita Bob Dylan adattandolo alla situazione ( "Flags of freedom" ). "Living with war" ha un suono ruvido nonostante il frequente utilizzo delle voci dei bambini, ma ha anche un andazzo lineare, a tratti troppo… Niente di eccezionale, ma un lavoro discreto e fatto con passione.

This is straight on Neil Young, trying to recapture the '60's. The fact that he does so to a degree still tells you a lot. These are by and large simple (and even simplistic, on Let's Impeach) but Families and Flags of Freedom are just as gorgeous (if not possibly as fresh) as classic Neil.
