Rating metrics: Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album has a Bayesian average rating of 64.7/100, a mean average of 63.6/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 64.1/100. The standard deviation for this album is 18.1.

Really not sure why this gets slated so much.

Not Neil’s best by any means but a very decent album. Needs more love I think

Bem progressivo, Neil não olha só para o folk.

I don't know why so many critics completely panned this when it came out, it's an alright record. Not great by any means, but it just sounds like Neil and Crazy Horse doing what they do. I also don't understand why this is labeled as a new wave record. There are synths on like 3 songs, and they're never structural to the song in any way. Shots has this same synth sample every couple seconds, I think it's supposed to simulate gun sounds. Doesn't sound like a gun to me. Most every song on the record is fine, with one exception. T-Bone. It. Is. AWFUL. There's a grand total of two stupid lines throughout the entire song (Got mashed potatoes / Ain't got no T-Bone), which is just the band dickin' around for 9 whole minutes. Do yourself a favor and skip it. Rest of the album is fine, though Shots does get pretty middling at around 4 and a half minutes in.

Decent. Not an overly enjoyable listen down to the horrible production. It sounds like it's been mixed properly pristine and then they decided to try and make it a bit lo-fi but it doesn't quite work. Though it's not classic Neil, it would have been better really rough sounding. Still better than most even when not trying. shots is a belter.

I was working in a record store when this first came out. It was brought home along with probably a dozen other lp's and somehow forgotten. To my surprise I found this hidden gem 2 weeks ago and WOW what a rocker. His guitar tone on this album is just great. Although not Mr. Youngs best, it should not be this low!

Competent garage rock from Neil and co. Not one of his best but enjoyable enough. Not bad.

Very underrated lp. Shots, Southern Pacific and T-Bone are excellent.
