People sometimes ask what it would sound like if someone like Taylor Swift or Katy Perry made a shoegaze album. I think it would sound a lot like this - it's about as close to a straight-up pop album as you can get while still being able to call yourself "shoegaze" with at least some level of credibility. Of course, now we have Hatchie, as well as bands like Wisp and Mo Dotti, not to mention pop-punk acts like Paramore who take a somewhat similar approach. But I still think this is closer to what it would sound like. Besides, this band is from Belfast, so you have to give them extra points for that.
