Just to clarify Will Butler departed AF AFTER this album was completed to actually spend more time with his young family and NOT jumping a sinking ship as some have claimed
If indeed this is to be Arcade Fires final album its a fine fine farewell album after 2017’s complete misstep ‘Everything Now’
For mine this ones a contender for 2022 AOTY (Edited)

Arcade Fire have demonstrated with the release of We that they have actually lost it, they do not even know how to make their own signature sound anymore. This album being vacuous just proves the departure of Will Butler was basically an abandoned recognition of the ship sinking; there's something deeply ironic about naming an album We and your brother leaving the band because it's shit. 2 terrible records and a decade since Reflektor, Arcade Fire are gone.
I typically like everything they do to slightly varied degrees so take this with a grain of salt…this is a capital G Great album. A concept album that flows from one song to the next and takes the best part of their rock (Funeral/Suburbs) and mixes it with the best part of their beats (Reflektor) and blends them in perfect harmony. My only criticism is that it’s too short. 40 minutes is not nearly enough for this sound.

Arcade Fire stepping into their elder millennial dad (and mom) rock shoes, perhaps by design the attempts to speak to modern day anxieties are mixed but works very well when it delivers those heart-on-its-sleeve arena-thumping art pop that they've delivered constantly in the past. Mostly toe-tapping nostalgia at it's best, but unlike the past album the lesser tracks are still listenable. (Edited)
Definitely not breaking any real new ground for Arcade Fire but such an enjoyable romp nonetheless! (Edited)
