Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album has a Bayesian average rating of 70.8/100, a mean average of 69.5/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 69.5/100. The standard deviation for this album is 11.2.

The Minus 5 are an indie-pop/rock collective helmed by Scott McCaughey often collaborating with R.E.M.'s Peter Buck along with a multitude of other artists. On "down with wilco" they feature 4 members of...wilco (fresh off "yankee hotel foxtrot") across most tracks, sporting their instrumental proficiency and americana but not the experimentalism. This makes for a good set of songs from "the days of wine and booze" to "dear employer (the reason i quit)" with funny lines like "i'm dj mini-mart, cuz that's where i work" and "There's nothing worse than a narcissist / Working a disaster nurse / She ends up versus the goddamn / Centre of the universe". Or on "i'm not bitter" -- "Bitterness is reserved for stupid people / Not for someone intelligent like me" -- because he's "not bitter / just a lot". Tweedy sings on "The Town That Lost Its Groove Supply" and "The Family Gardener". The Minus 5 are one of those artists representing the antithesis of indie rock, witty and disarming, mundane and self-referential.
