Rating metrics: Help Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album has a Bayesian average rating of 73.3/100, a mean average of 72.3/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 73.4/100. The standard deviation for this album is 13.6.

Inxs really are a dark horse. It's the song writing capabilities that sort the wheat from the chaff and these guys keep constantly putting out top quality tracks . It's a pity I let my view on them having some commercial success stop me from checking them out back in the day. They're a fucking really decent band.

This album of INXS is like their Revolver album from The Beatles. An album rejected because their popularity turned for the worse for weird reasons like with The Beatles had and only later, you see what a classic album this is. It has some of the best instrumentals in Heaven Sent and Taste It along with powerful lyrics like Questions and Beautiful Girl. It is a great listen from start to finish with great variety and clearly much better than X album and other albums of theirs. A brilliant underrated album that deserves more praise.

INXS were a favourite of mine for a good while, Kick was an album I loved and probably overplayed. X came and went, and then this. I remmeber at the time thinking this was their best offering, and listening again I still do. Quality right through, with maybe the exception of the last track, with some of their very best songs. Underrated, and well worth a listen.

It's not that bad, but I can understand how this album has been overlooked.

The critics and the public rejected this album. However upon repeated listens this is an all time classic. A most underrated album!

Even better than X! Another really good album. It sucks that their later albums are overshadowed by Kick, I honestly think INXS is at least good-tier for 90s bands.
