Pelt\'s discography - still growing - is a curious one. There is a general, though hardly consistent, movement from (sometimes electric) Noise to acoustic, sometimes *rural* Drone. For those less impressed by Pelt\'s later phase, \'Max Meadows\' may give them all the quiet times/Ruralia they could ever wish for. THIS recording, however, provides a fine balance between the now-established Fahey presence and the drone warfare one finds full-blown on the Pelt s/t and \'Empty Bell Ringing in the Sky.\' A classic double album/transspace *excursion*. Look for their new \'Effigy\' lp and Pelt spin-off groop Black Twig Pickers: http://www.blacktwigpickers
