Rating metrics: Help Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album has a Bayesian average rating of 64.8/100, a mean average of 62.0/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 62.0/100. The standard deviation for this album is 19.4.

Pretty damned good. Very heavy lyrically, musically in parts as well.

Staind's debut fit in nicely with the alt/grunge sound of the time. And with tons of copy cats Staind rises above the cream of this crop.

Unfortunately for Staind, this particular crop of music is Beets--- not many people's favorite vegetable---and in the grand scheme of music and it's rich history--- isn't that great.

Mudshovel is a keeper and a great song for the popular music of the time and a one of the songs you would play for someone in the future if you wanted to learn them on popular music of this time period.

Suffocate is alright. The rest of this is skippable. They do all of this better on their sophomore album, Break the Cycle.
