Rating metrics: Help Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album is rated in the top 11% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 74.7/100, a mean average of 74.3/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 74.9/100. The standard deviation for this album is 14.9.

Like Boys For Pele, this is an ambitious double album that has some breathtaking moments if you're willing to give it a chance.

I suppose this would be ideal road tripping music traversing the great outdoors they call US of A. But "Your Cloud" alone is a reason enough for me to call this Amos' greatest achievement yet.

Boring and too long album. 55/100 may be too much ...

I skipped Strange Little Girls after hearing it was worse than To Venus and Back, but picked up Scarlet's Walk when some of my friends told me they loved it and I had to check it out. It's so long and there's almost nothing here that interests me the same way her earlier albums did. This ended up being the last Tori album I bought.

18 years later, this masterpiece stays in my music rotation. Haunting and erie vocals draw you in and keep you in a comfortable trance. She's so distinguished, exciteably different from the mainstream. The world's a better place with Tori Amos. I put this #1 in the Tori collection!
