The 2000's for music is quite a conundrum I find. There's some absolute gold but as a decade I found it didn't really excel.
I realize my chart has a lot of compilations. I am trying to ween them out
Any footnotes are just personal ramblings for my own entertainment.
And to remind me of the joy the music brings before all memory is erased.

91.09* This was the best accident ever. Found in a clearance bin for next to nothing. I'd only ever heard one song from them on a compilation I have. Thought 'nothing to lose' so bought it. Fucking loved it. Was the best musical discovery I'd found in many many years. Great right through with no weak points. All hail the Elbow

90.45 Riffs. Rhythm. Melody. These guys are king of it all. There's no one that sounds even remotely like them. Totally unique. Truly original in sound which is what gives them the rite to being among Metal's elite. All hail the System 06/24

90.33* The perfect blend of 60's, 70's and 80's rock. Saw these guys on a secondary stage mid afternoon at a festival when I'd never even heard of them. It was like going through a time warp. Every song felt familiar. Great hooks, riffs & catchy tunes. The drugs may of played a part at the time. And that's how you know you've found something great.... is when you get there album afterwards, listen to it stone cold sober and clean as a whistle, and still love it.

90.14* This is the album that set SOAD apart from the others with them finding there unique style. They have a sound unlike anyone else. With this followed by 'Hypnotize' & 'Mezmerize' they rightly deserve there place among the Metal elite.

90.00* My discovery of Lily Allen was during a late afternoon slot at a festival. Prior to this anything I'd heard from her wasn't really my cup of tea. But after a selection of fine drugs, my attitude towards her changed forever. The true telling factor though was when I got her album at a later date and listened to it with a clear mind. Loved it. Hence the drugs helped me discover but aren't needed for the pure enjoyment of what she produces. Great sardonic lyrics yet very uplifting. All hail Lily.

89.58 On revisiting this it has shot up in my ratings. I feel this is the album she made that showed she is one of the greatest female vocalists. Great songwriter too. Her voice conveys such emotion whether it be rock or simplistic ballads. This album also has the best duet ever with Thom Yorke. Top notch album. How can you not love her.

89.54 I was a late comer to symphonic metal. It's fantastic when done well and this album is the king of all symphonic metal I've heard..... so far. Smitten with this from the moment I first heard it. And just keeps getting better each time I listen too it. The metal riffs, rhythm & melodies. The outstanding gorgeous vocals. The orchestral arrangements. The accompanying choir. All put together to total perfection. This is the gold standard of symphonic metal 06/24

89.00 Love this. Brilliant debut. There are many contenders who try to blend melody, rhythm and flow perfectly. Many fail. They has perfected it. Victory to Kasabian. Great music doesn't date and this is still as dynamic as the day it came out.

88.21 Nothing different or special. Just an album loaded with top class stoner/metal tracks. No gimmicks. Less is more. A massively overlooked album. One of Monster Magnets better ones. Pretty much every track is killer with no slumps at all through the whole thing. Fucking brilliant and enjoyable. 06/24
