Rating metrics: Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album is rated in the top 7% of albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a mean average rating of 75.0/100. The trimmed mean (excluding outliers) is 76.3/100. The standard deviation for this album is 15.7.

One of my favourite grunge sounds of the 90's.

The greatest hard rock record ever, about anger, angst, and Scott's personal doubts and freedoms of things he allows himself to get out. The compositions are unique and fascinating, yet receptive and catchy.

Quintessential 90's rock album. The band was unfairly seen as an imitator of the Grunge sound. STP had their own unique sound which makes Core a grand achievement that has stood the test of time. RIP Scott. You were a genius and the embodiment of the iconic rock front man.

Great grunge/hard rock/alternative metal album. Best 10 songs average is 92,8/100 and the album can get great 95/100. Best song is "Plush" - maximum rating. Followed by "Creep" and "Crackerman" both 95/100 and next "Sex type thing", "Wicked garden", "Piece of pie" and "Where the river goes" all 90/100. All other songs good 80-85/100, except "Wet my bed" poor 60/100 only.

Core itself is a mix bag & rather uneven from what I remember. I wasn't big on Pearl Jam's sound to begin with so I thought "Plush" was pretty lame, but despite mining similar territory I love "Creep." "Dead & Bloated," "Sex Type Thing" & "Wicked Garden" RAWK!

This album was almost dangerously perfect in every way. Where many others in the so-called "Grunge" era were falling deep into the thick bog of self-loathing, this album by the great Stone Temple Pilots maintained a heavy handed dose of rock and roll with the lyrical sensibility of some of the most classic of rock eras gone by.

This is really uneven. It has a couple great songs in "Plush" and "Creep," but it's mostly filler, especially on the second half.

Its hip to bash STP, but this album is worth a listen - there are good songs here.
