av = trimmed mean average rating an item has currently received.
n = number of ratings an item has currently received.
m = minimum number of ratings required for an item to appear in a 'top-rated' chart (currently 10).
AV = the site mean average rating.

Rating metrics: Help Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album is rated in the top 4% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 76.4/100, a mean average of 75.5/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 76.5/100. The standard deviation for this album is 15.7.

STP’s debut album Core is a better album than everything that came out afterwards…but that’s not saying much really. (Edited)

For a debut album this is very good but it pales in comparison to the incredible achievement of their follow-up, Purple. It doesn’t have the same magnetism to draw you back to listen to in its entirety because it hasn’t got banger after banger like Purple does. (Edited)

This album is a little bit muddled in terms of quality. You have great tracks like Plush and Creep and if the whole album matched the level of those two songs the album would be amazing. However, it doesn't do this and instead has quite a few filler tracks which are quite weak and boring. The album does feel dull and lacklustre at times and it really needs more big hitters. The instrumentation is enjoyable and that is mainly due to the guitar work which is the real standout for me. Overall, a decent album that has its highs and lows and is enjoyable but shouldn't be in the conversation for one of the best albums ever. (Edited)

Solid debut album. Starts with a hiss and a roar with the first three songs. Mostly pretty good throughout. Couple of fillers but overall top effort. 'Sex Type Thing' being best track
