Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album is rated in the top 2% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 79.0/100, a mean average of 77.2/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 79.2/100. The standard deviation for this album is 18.5.

I like the very extreme nature of the playing and vocals, and they've added enough crunching rhythmic guitar to make it really enjoyable. Amazing guitar solos and technique generally. Thrash metal classic, which in this form is apparently known as groove metal. I'd be an even bigger fan of this album if there were more good songs like "No Good".
Marco do Thrash/Groove
Sounds great, but the sound and some riffs is the only thing it has going for it, which being a metal record is not little, but it lacks variety and the vocals are pretty terrible.
This is real Heavy Fucking Metal. Packed with great tracks. 'Walk' easily taking it's place as one of the greatest ever metal songs. Definitely the best of all Pantera's albums.
This album hasnt age a minute, it has the best balance of hard hitting metal riffs and drums with melodic solos and lyrics.
Really good album.
Favorites: Walk, Fucking Hostile, No Good (Attack The Radical)
At the time this was in my top handful of albums easily. As time has gone by it grates on me a little. I guess I'm no longer in need of cathartic-anger-listens anymore. However, I can still assess this as being a top-notch thrash genre album.
Among the greatest Metal/Thrash albums ever recorded.
For me, Black Sabbath Black Sabbath, Metallica Ride the Lightning, Metallica Master Of Puppets, Metallica ...And Justice For All, Pantera Vulgar display of Power.
A great change from Metallica's Black Album, at the time.
Crazy concert too. '94 Cincinnati Gardens, the crowd pulled all the chairs out of the way and piled them on the floor like they were preparing for an indoor bon-fire.
Good Times.
Dimebag ranks among the best ever as well.
One of the heaviest, yet groovinest records ever recorded.
I'm not a huge Pantera fan, but this is a great album. Very agressive with some likker hooks. "Walk", "Fucking Hostile" and "Mouth For War" are the high points. "Walk" is actually up there with some of the greatest metal songs ever.
