Rating metrics: Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album has a Bayesian average rating of 69.0/100, a mean average of 67.7/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 68.7/100. The standard deviation for this album is 14.6.

Slightly overlooked in the Alt rock world. I'm in two minds with this. Hooks you in nicely with the first two tracks which you think sets the pace. Then it takes a turn and becomes melancholy for the rest of the album. I found this a bit deceptive but on the other hand, as a whole it's a decent album

A common notion for anyone that's ever listened to this whole album, they were so much more than their one commercial hit. This is truly a fantastic listen all the way through, and even 20+ years later it's worth the time. It's tough to pick a favorite song, they all could be.

Came for Sex and Candy, stayed for Sherry Fraser. A perfect song when thinking of lost loved ones.

The ultimate travesty is that this band is remembered for one song (Sex and Candy). When their entire debut is made up of whimsical stories and memorable songs from the wonderful mind of John Wozniak, who is a criminally underrated songwriter. This album deserves multiple listens and respect.

This album is so good. Bought it for "Sex and Candy"; loved it for everything else.

This was so retardedly popular but I could not and will never not.

Slow speed. Light guitar and vocals. Decent songwriting but never got into something great. First track seems a lot more heavier than the rest.
