Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album has a Bayesian average rating of 71.5/100, a mean average of 70.3/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 71.4/100. The standard deviation for this album is 15.8.

This album sounds like a Franz Ferdinand best-of, with all the positives and negatives that come with it. Everything feels already heard and re-heard for the band — but at the same time, it sounds really good. The first four tracks are honestly among Franz Ferdinand’s best.
The first six songs of the album are great. After that the album weakens. On a good day you should listen to the full album. On a lesser day only add Brief Encounters.
E infatti… Comunque discreto.
Certainly, one of their best works until now
Not a bad album, but not as good as their previous stuff. It does have some good tracks though and it stays pretty consistent throughout.
Best tracks: Love Illumination, Fresh Strawberries, Universe Expanded
Worst tracks: Brief Encounters, Stand on the Horizon
Pas le meilleur de FF , mais un moment quand même
It's not the best FF album, and even it's not an outstanding album, but it's pretty decent, it has a good sounding , the highlights for me are "Evely Eye", "Love Illumination" (i think it's the best song), "Bullet" but the others are quite good also, it's true that there's no really bad song. It worths listen once at least, and if you buy the album, buy the 2cd deluxe edition version, i like the style of it :)
Really underrated album. Franz's best for me. Sure, it doesn't have a huge hit like Do You Want To or Take Me Out, but it doesn't have any weak track, and Fresh Strawberries is an amazing song.
The main problem with this album is that it's built on an ideal of energy and rush, and it's hard to do that if that exterior of the songs either aren't polished enough or don't have enough inside em to keep moving forward. That doesn't mean all of the songs don't pay off, which isn't completely true with cases like the singles 'Right Action' and Love 'Illumination'.
