Red Letter Days was released to little fanfare as The Wallflowers fell off the popularity map fairly quickly. The understated and soft previous release Breach gained no new fans and lost some of the classic Bringing Down the Horse
Breach was actually a very good album.
Red Letter Days is their worst. It lacks soul and originality. Songs bleed into each and all of this is super safe pop songs in a desperate grasp for a radio single and some fan attention.
Closer, Health and Happiness, Feels Like Summer Again stand above the other average offerings.
Unfortunately, after this release there weren't many people left listening to hear the excellent Rebel, Sweetheart that would come next in 2005
