Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. Inizia il disco e sembra di sentirne uno di Leonard Cohen; più avanti sembra invece di stare ad ascoltare Tom Waits e comunque le atmosfere dell'album sono praticamente tutte rotanti attorno al jazz, al blues più sofisticato, alla musica che evoca locali fumosi e piccole bands. Qualcosa non torna ed infatti a mettere a posto le cose ci pensa la capacità interpretativa e l'istrionismo, seppur incanalato in territori a lui decisamente poco congeniali, del padrone di casa. Iggy Pop il suo marchio lo lascia infatti pure qui, anche se ci vogliono alcuni ascolti per convincersene.

It was a dream come true ; my favorite singer join force with my favorite novelist to make an album about arguably my favorite novel (The possibility of an island, by Michel Houellebecq)
Sad to say it wasn't enough to make a good album... It's a smoother Iggy, like on Avenue-B... it's not much my kind of Iggy. I can resume Preliminaire like that ; A highly interesting album with rather boring songs...
