It takes a little while, but The Golden Echo def burns brighter with each re-listen. Kimbra's one of the more clever and subtle genre-stylists in the mainstream these days- The Golden Echo plays off 90s rb, 80s new romantic, turn of the millenium bubblegum pop, classic 60s soul singers and grand, orchestral, broadway-style show-stoppers. A bit too indulgent and overstretched as a whole, but lots of delectable surprises to be found throughout.
