there are moments of brilliance, particularly in the second half. this is better than its reputation suggests.

You both are two harsh. After a godawful Penny Sparkle, this is something of a return to form. It certainly isn't Misery Is a Butterfly, but tracks like "Cat on Hot Tin Roof" or, mostly, the remarkable "No More Honey" show some form of resigned romanticism that sounds totally relevant - with both what Blonde Redhead have been so far, and what it means to be Blonde Redhead in 2014.
Good album, not great; mainly because the first three tracks are somewhat on the bland side of "subtle".
