Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album is rated in the top 13% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 74.5/100, a mean average of 73.4/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 74.7/100. The standard deviation for this album is 13.7.

I was drawn to this album by the reinterpretation of Bob Dylan's 'New Pony' - a largely unheralded song from the largely unheralded 1987 'Street Legal' album. The Dead Weather add new life & energy to the lyrics & music ~ I've asdded this version to my 'top 100 Dylan covers' chart.
Stellar guitar work from jack white here. Always been one of my favourite guitarists. Great groove to this album. Rare, visceral, love it. Great vocals from Allison mosshart with a great groove from the rhythm section.
Not as focused an album as I'd like, but The Dead Weather shows us an exciting new side of Jack White that makes complete sense.
Yes, I've listened to every White Stripes record, the Raconteurs records, and Jack White's solo works... This is White's best record. Horehound's thematic solidarity makes even Elephant sound a little scattered in ideology. In my opinion, it has his career's best grooves (Treat Me Like Your Mother), best riffs (3 Birds), and best guitar solo (Bone House). It's the underdog in his discography when it should be the pinnacle.
The vocalist brings something interesting to the piece. Very in your face music. Violent and striking.
A solid rock effort by Jack. But seriously, this is Alison's show, she kicks ass.
As usual, Jack White scores again.
This seemed like a perfect fit for me: I love the White Stripes, I love female vocalists, and I love industrial. And while this album is far from perfect, these facts made it an enjoyable experience for me nonetheless.
