I can’t decide if this is brilliant or a bad Christmas album from some nightmare. Maybe both.
I think it needs plenty of listens to give my ears a chance to cut through Spector’s haze and sort out whether these songs are actually good. It might grow on me.

A beautiful record, full of filth and bombast, where the artists reveal and revel in their vices, yet the finished product just reeks of talent. (Edited)
The odd couple Leonard Cohen and Phil Spector unite to produce an odd album. It's almost a tug of war, with Cohen pulling one way, Spector the other. It's an ambitious record, but it's a hit and miss affair. Iodine, is a great track, and, don't go home with your hard-on, is fun, and, memories, is a wonderfully overblown doo wop number. The title track is a Dylan type cut, but the rest is just about ok. An odd album then, but I'm glad Cohen has it in his Canon. Strange fun. (Edited)

It's still Cohen, but this is the album I turn to the least.
