Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. This album will always take me back to the sheer joy of taking a 4WD tour across the Bolivian altiplano(Salar De Uyuni), at sunrise with the perfectly still reflective layer of water stretching out to the horizon of the salt flats as the 4WDs sped across the top of the water spraying golden trails in our wake. I had a taped cassette of this album playing in our vehicle and it brought with it a sense of satisfied contentment... until we caught up with the Israeli tourists blasting their doof doof up at the next stopping point...

All the ducks are swimming in the water... Brilliant!
I love Lemon Jelly's type of sirupy ambient gooey goodness. I don't think this album is as good as ky. But there are definitely worse ways to spend a sunny lazy Sunday afternoon. Best enjoyed with sunshine and strawberries!
