Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some artists can have several thousand ratings)
This artist has a Bayesian average rating of 68.9/100, a mean average of 68.0/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 68.0/100. The standard deviation for this artist is 20.7.

First album was exciting and showed promise as legit hard rockers. Second album then hinted at the coming sellout and shift to pop metal.
I've thought long and hard about this, but subjectively, Def Leppard are my favourite band. Nowhere would they objectively rank in even the top 100 greatest artists but their music just really jives with me more than many others. Maybe it's the husky harmonies, maybe it's the lush guitar melodies, maybe it's the multi-layered instrumentation, I dunno. Pyromania is my #3 favourite album of all time, and I've listened to it from front to back over 245 times, yet I haven't got sick of it.
Some fantastic music
Yeah they didn't invent the wheel or anything and they might lack variety for some. But they made catchy, dynamic songs that are a lot of fun to listen to, and at the end of the day that's good enough for me for a band to be considered enjoyable. Not legendary maybe, but good.
Maybe they're not doing a lot of great songs now, but when Def Leppard goes for pop rock of rock, they are the best of they're kind. Spunk, echoes, and a voice like Joe Elliot's are the main ingredients to the one-of-a-kind Def leppard. Not the best band in the world, but I'll be a fan of them for a long time to come.
I know it's possible to dislike Def leppard. I can see how people can find them annoying. But I've only met one or two people who don't like Def Lep.
You could dislike Def Leppard... I don't - they're OK. Straight forward, predictable catchy arena rock.
You can't dislike Def Leppard
Pyromania and Hysteria are among my favorites. Since then I think they've been a little hit or miss. I've actually preferred the albums like Slang where they try to change and update their sound. Other albums where they try to recapture the 80s haven't been so impressive to me. I don't think they've aged as well as Bon Jovi.
the fist rock band that i have listened
