I would like to hear a collaboration between Joanna Newsom and Black Midi. That would really be something.

Easily my favourite musician of all time. Nobody even comes close. Absolutely genius both musically and lyrically. She's incapable of writing a bad song, the only artist I can think of where I consider literally every one of her albums perfect. People so often get caught up in the superficial aspects of her music like her voice or how she plays harp or her vocabulary and don't even attempt to engage with the actual artistry beneath it.

I remember putting Ys on for the first time, and hearing Emily, and being absolutely blown away. This utterly unique voice, speaking out of this unique atmosphere, the intricate arrangements were so utterly compelling that I knew I had to hear all her work. Definitely one of the most interesting and ambitious artists working today. I've honestly never seen the problem with her voice, but I'm not going to question anyone who doesn't like it. It's your opinion. No need to be rude though...

Along with Sufjan Stevens and Nick Drake she's perhaps the most emotional voice in the history of folk music. It's true that Divers is her most accessible record so far but if you want to really get into Joanna's discography it's best to start with her most raw album (TMEM) and explore her discography chronologically.
