Rating metrics: Help Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some artists can have several thousand ratings)

This artist is rated in the top 2% of all artists on BestEverAlbums.com. This artist has a Bayesian average rating of 82.7/100, a mean average of 82.1/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 83.2/100. The standard deviation for this artist is 13.6.

Funny story....I love Joy Division but am lukewarm on the danceable New Order, but I know at least three people who are the opposite way around...either way, many in my country don't even know of these two bands....

An interesting evolution of Joy Division. Some great electronic/dance songs. Not the greatest live band, sadly.

I know I'm in the minority here, but I might enjoy New Order even more than I do Joy Division.

In response to Stover75;
Blue Monday is ranked #1 with 91/100 and True Faith is ranked #7 with 88/100, you won't see them unless you hit the "include tracks from compilation albums" button, as they were only singles and released on compilation albums, not studio albums.

If you pay them the band will come to your house and rearrange the record collection.

What a band. Progressing from Joy Division-inspired alternative rock to dance music that stands out to this day. Blue Monday is easily one of my favorite songs of all time. God I love New Order.
